Met Gala with Emma Chamberlain, Austin Butler…
New York has always been a bold backdrop in Cartier’s American history, and the continuation of the last Met Gala chapter, now In America, an Anthology of Fashion, is yet another gilded moment to celebrate the Maison’s love of New York ...and the legends that walk the Met Gala steps.
This American chapter began in 1909 with Pierre Cartier’s arrival to New York city, followed by the legendary acquisition of the Fifth Avenue Mansion for a pearl necklace, the establishment of the New York workshop that would go on to inspire iconic designs long after it shut its doors and the Hollywood legends that still shine bright in the Cartier galaxy.
At the Met Gala this year, Emma Chamberlain, Austin Butler, Maude Apatow, Emma Corrin, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Ramla Ali, Evan Mock and Stromae—to name a few—graced the Bemelmans Bar at the Carlyle, photographed by Greg Williams. Creations from the High Jewelry workshops mixed with the iconic collections and exceptional pieces from the Cartier Collection in looks that shone brighter than the gilded murals on the walls. Every look marked a moment in Cartier’s American legacy, a legacy that continues to evolve over a century later.
